What are mobile prostheses and what are they used for?
Mobile dentures are used to replace or repair natural teeth, restore chewing function, and improve smile aesthetics.
They can be: total (they are not anchored to anything), partial (there are teeth or implants in the mouth to anchor to), combined (it is a mix of fixed and removable) or overdenture (clip on root).
Dentures can be made of different materials: resin, composite, or ceramic.
Mobile prosthesis
Replaces missing teeth.
Advantages of prostheses
Aesthetic, functional, economical, time-saving.
The types of removable prostheses
Totals.
Partials
Combined.
Overdenture.
Why a mobile prosthesis?
A removable prosthesis is more economical than implant-prosthetic surgery, that is, placement of prostheses on previously placed implants.
No surgery is required.
It can be obtained quickly.
It is easy to clean.
Why avoid a removable prosthesis?
A removable denture is less stable in the mouth.
Over time it can lose stability, creating discomfort to chewing and any remaining teeth.
The bone in the mouth can also thin and the denture loses adhesion.
Re-fitting (relining) of the denture is necessary about every two years.
The types of removable prostheses
Total removable denture
Total removable denture (denture) is used when teeth are totally missing and rests on the gingiva that covers the bone of the mandible or maxilla. The higher the condition of the gingiva and bone, the more stable the denture is.
A good fixed prosthesis provides good aesthetic results as well.
It is important to follow good daily hygiene of the prosthesis, using the appropriate brushes. Every 2 days soak the prosthesis in a solution of water and specific disinfectant for about an hour.
Follow good daily oral hygiene, cleaning the gums and tongue.
Good denture maintenance requires annual checkups and a relining procedure every two years.
Total removable dentures provide a fair amount of stability, but that provided by fixed dentures is never achieved.
Partial removable dentures
Partial removable dentures (skeleton) replace missing teeth.
It is anchored to the present healthy teeth with hooks, which are often visible, to keep it as stable as possible.
It is important to follow good daily hygiene of the denture, using the appropriate brushes. Every 2 days soak the denture in a solution of water and specific disinfectant for about an hour.
Follow good daily oral hygiene, cleaning teeth, gums and tongue.
Good denture maintenance requires annual checkups and a relining procedure every two years.
The stages of the pathway
The dental examination
During the visit, the general situation of the mouth is assessed, expectations both functionally and aesthetically verified, in order to make diagnoses and implement the most appropriate treatment plan. Photos of the person as a young person are evaluated in order to restore the original aesthetics.
1
Functional and esthetic proof of prosthesis
The first prosthesis, made after analysis and modeling, is tried on to verify your total adherence to the design and whether it meets masticatory function and esthetic expectations. If some vestments do not conform, appropriate modifications are made.
3
Mouth impressions, functional and aesthetic analysis
Impressions of the arch are made precisely to derive the anatomy of the mouth, which are necessary to make in first model on which to build the prosthesis.
2
Delivery of the prosthesis
The final prosthesis is delivered and worn. The wearer is properly trained in proper use, hygiene, and maintenance. An adjustment period involving 2 to 3 appointments for check and control is normal.

Siete meravigliosi... grazie 🙏💖🙏
